During the meeting the Commissioners were asked if they agreed that the requested actions were in violation of seven points described in either the Addison Township Zoning Ordinances or the Addison Township Master Plan. Six of the seven Planning Commissioners were present at the meeting and they failed reach majority consensus on three of the points. Three of the Commissioners; Joe Schnur, Ed Brakefield and Phillip Marshall resisted agreeing that ordinances would be violated and instead indicated that they didn't like or agree with the ordinance itself. When asked if the requested actions were consistent with the Township Master Plan's intent to preserve it's natural resources, Commissioner Ed Brakefield stated that Lakeville Lake was a man-made lake and as such should not be included as a natural resource under the protection of the master plan. * A Lakeville Lake property owner has applied with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality for a permit to dredge shoreline, backfill with sand, cut a channel into the shore to construct a permanent covered boat well. The LLPOA Board has informed the DEQ that the requested actions are in violation of Addison Township ordinances and have requested a public hearing. The Addison Township Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing for June 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the township office complex.
The LLPOA Board believes the planning commission is leaning toward approving a variance for the project and feels it is important that property owners attend the hearing. The actions directly violate lake lot ordinances and could set precedent for other development on the lake. This is especially important as 140 acres South of the Salvation Army Camp are offered for sale and potential development.

We will attempt to gain advanced notification of planned application dates and pass them on to our e-mail distribution in addition to adding the information to this website.

June 16, 2014
* Heavy growth areas of Starry Stonewort were treated this morning. Shoreline properties impacted by the treatment should have been posted with any restrictions.
June 13, 2014
* The treatment plan for this year's weed control program is shown on the Weed Management page of this web site. No Eurasian Milfoil was found so treatments will be applied to areas of Starry Stonewort growth.
June 10, 2014
* The lake was surveyed for weed growth on May 28, 2014 by Progressive AE. Progressive will develop a treatment plan for the season based on the results of the survey. Any treatments will be applied directly to areas of heavy growth of Eurasian Milfoil and Starry Stonewort. Shoreline properties impacted by the applications will be posted on the day of the application. We have requested advanced notification of the scheduled applications and will communicate the plan as soon as we receive it. We will place a note on this web-site and send a notice to property owners with e-mail addresses on file.
* The June 24, 2014 Annual Meeting will include a number of topics requiring member approval, so if you want your inputs considered, please come to the meeting. Approvals will be sought for;
- a change in professional consultant services.
- a change to the single item spending limit defined in the LLPOA By-Laws from $2000 to $2500. The annual subscription cost for the Riparian now exceeds $2000 and is beyond our allowable spending amount.
- a proposal to expand the scope of the Education Fund assessment to allow for a wider range of services for the lake.
- election of expiring board seats.
May 4, 2014
* Marc VanHoogstraat was appointed to the last vacant seat on the LLPOA Board at the April 22, 2014 meeting. Mark's term will run to the election at the June 24, 2014 Annual Meeting.
* Paul Carthew was appointed to the vacant Trustee position for the LRA at the April 22, 2014 LLPOA meeting.
* You should have received a post card from Lake Pro announcing intent to apply herbicides for nuisance weed control on Lakeville Lake this summer. The notice does not identify specific dates or locations - it just announces intent for later activities. The approved plan for this year is to locally treat for Eurasian Milfoil and Starry Stonewort. Shoreline properties impacted by treatments will be posted at the time of the application. We will attempt to gain advanced notification of planned application dates and pass them on to our e-mail distribution in addition to adding the information to this website.
* At this time we still do not have an unloading site for the weed harvesting program. If a site is not identified, we will not be able to operate the harvesting program and anticipate problems with weed growth. If you have a site that could be used please contact one of the board members. We are currently checking into the potential of using old road endings and the DNR public launch site.
March 15, 2014
* The LLPOA Board would like to thank Gerald Galea for his service to both the LLPOA and LRA. Gerald was elected to the LLPOA Board in 2008 and served as Treasurer and President. Gerald also served on as a Trustee of the LRA. Gerald resigned from both organizations last summer due to family commitments.
March 11, 2014
* Paul Carthew was nominated to fill one of the vacant seats on the LLPOA Board during the March 11, 2014 meeting. Paul's seat will run through the June 2015 Annual Meeting when new elections are held.
* We are collecting e-mail addresses for the property owners to reduce and ultimately eliminate hard copy mailings. If you are not on our electronic distribution, please provide your e-mail address to llpoa_sec@att.net.
* The current special assessments for Lakeville Lake property owners expire this year. A public hearing will take place this summer to discuss practicability of the assessments. The LLPOA Board is working to prepare for the assessment renewals covering lake management and public education. The proposals will propose continuing current assessment rates while expanding scope of the public education assessment.
* The Lake Restoration Association (LRA) is preparing for this summer's operations. One Board member is needed along with two harvester operators and a dump truck driver/supervisor. Positions will be advertised soon. If you are interested or know someone that may be interested please contact one of the Board members listed on the Newsletter - ECHO tab of this web site. The operation season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day.
* We are in need of an offloading site for this summer's weed harvesting operation. The site needs to have shoreline access for a conveyor and dump truck. If your property could be used for offloading weeds please contact an existing board member listed on the Newsletter - ECHO tab of this web site.
* The township has indicated that they do not have funds to support Marine Sheriff patrols this summer. The Department of Natural Resources typically funds the Marine Sheriff but budget cutbacks have resulted in no patrol funding for Lakeville Lake since 2011. Limited sheriff patrols have been arranged through Township funds or resident contributions since the DNR cutbacks but there are no plans to fund patrols for the 2014 season.
* If you have photos of the lake that you would like posted on this web site please send them to llpoa_sec@att.net.
